MUSC 38365 - Artist Management
This course prepares students for the professional responsibilities of managing the career of a music artist or group within today’s music industry. Students will gain an understanding of the manager’s role in career development, strategic planning, contract negotiation, touring, recording, branding, and long-term business partnerships. Through readings, case studies, practical exercises, and class discussions, students will examine the skills and industry knowledge required to succeed as an artist manager. While the primary focus is on music, many of the practices introduced can also be applied to managing creative professionals in other fields such as authors, actors, athletes, and beyond.
