PSY 14000 - Critical Foundations For Psychology
A comprehensive introduction to psychology as a science and as a profession; methods of inquiry used in the science of psychology, critical thinking, information literacy, and basic written communication as applied to the discipline; survey of career opportunities in psychology, focusing on developing short-term and long-term academic/professional goals and effective strategies for pursuing them.
Preparation for Course P: PSY 12000 with grade of C- or better and a psychology major.
Cr. 3. Student Learning Outcomes 1. Understand the scientific foundations of psychology, e.g., how to evaluate assertions about behavior.
2. Understand the degree requirements to earn a B.A. or B.S. in psychology at PFW.
3. Be familiar with campus support resources, and opportunities for active engagement in the Department of Psychology.
4. Explore academic and professional goals and identify a possible career path.
5. Understand the foundations of information literacy and elements of scientific writing.
