MUSC 30400 - Live Sound Reinforcement
This course provides a comprehensive introduction to live sound, emphasizing the technical, theoretical, and creative principles underlying contemporary sound reinforcement. Students will examine current technologies, system design, and operational techniques used in modern live performance environments, with applications ranging from small venues to larger productions.
Preparation for Course P: MUSC 20300 (or equivalent) and PHYS 10500 with grades of C- or better and admitted into a program of the School of Music.
Cr. 3. Student Learning Outcomes 1. Analyze and diagnose common equipment failures in live sound environments.
2. Explain and illustrate signal flow within contemporary live sound systems.
3. Demonstrate and apply effective techniques for live sound equipment setup, configuration, and operation.
4. Evaluate and propose adjustments to improve the sonic characteristics of performances and acoustic spaces.
