MUSC 20300 - Music Recording And Production II
An intermediate course in music recording and production techniques. Topics will include Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) systems operation and integration, traditional recording studio operation, and audio signal processing. Students will be required to create music recording projects.
Preparation for Course P: MUSC 10300 (or equivalent) with grade of C- or better and admitted into a program of the School of Music.
Cr. 3. Student Learning Outcomes 1. Develop intermediate-level technical proficiency and critical listening skills in music recording and production.
2. Demonstrate operational competency in integrated studio procedures and approved DAW software platforms.
3. Apply audio signal processing principles to create high-quality, intermediate-scale music recordings using integrated and hybrid production environments.
4. Record, edit, and render professional-quality multi-track recordings of drums, guitars, bass, piano, vocals, and other acoustic instruments.
5. Analyze and resolve technical and musical challenges associated with combining multiple audio sources, informed by foundational music theory concepts.
6. Conduct research and deliver professional presentations that communicate technical and creative production concepts effectively.
