WOST 24000 - Topics In Feminism



Exploration of feminist scholarship on a specific topic of current interest, e.g., women and social activism, pornography, reproductive rights, lesbian and gay studies, gender in early education, contemporary women’s movement. Specific topics announced in the Schedule of Classes. Suitable for students without previous women’s studies courses.

Student Learning Outcomes
1.  Demonstrate knowledge of introductory concepts and theoretical perspectives related to gender from a multidisciplinary perspective, with emphasis on the social sciences.
2.  Identify the strengths and weaknesses of a range of explanations or interpretations of problems related to gender from a multidisciplinary, social science perspective.
3.  Apply interdisciplinary/integrated approaches to a range of texts and problem-solving.
4.  Evaluate evidence used to support conclusions about the role gender plays in the behavior of individuals, groups, institutions, or organizations.
5.  Formulate significant critical questions about gender from a multidisciplinary, social science perspective.
6.  Write about these questions effectively.
7.  Demonstrate strong communication skills through class discussions.
