PHIL 30300 - History Of Modern Philosophy
Concentrates on the major philosophical writers from the Renaissance to the beginning of the nineteenth century: Descartes, Hobbes, Spinoza, Locke, Leibniz, Berkeley, Hume, Kant. Some in other areas, e.g., Galileo, Newton, Calvin, are also considered.
Cr. 3. Notes Restricted to students with sophomore or higher class standing. Student Learning Outcomes 1. Describe the history, philosophy, and traditions of other world cultures.
2. Analyze and evaluate texts, events, and ideas in their cultural, intellectual, and historical contexts.
3. Interpret humanistic works through analysis and criticism.
