OLS 37800 - Labor And Management Relations



An introduction to, and overview of, the fundamental concepts of labor relations, collective bargaining, and dispute resolution procedures. An international comparative analysis is used to assess some of the legal, economic, and political structures of labor relations.

P: OLS 37600 or consent of instructor.

Student Learning Outcomes
1.  Demonstrate an understanding of the structure and function of labor unions and the role they play in the U.S. 
2.  Demonstrate an understanding of the historical development of both labor unions and union-management relations in the U.S.   
3.  Demonstrate an understanding of U.S. labor legislation and how it affects the labor relations process.
4.  Demonstrate an understanding of the three phases of the labor relations process - the organizing of unions, the negotiation of collective bargaining agreements and the administration of collective bargaining agreements.
