COM 20101 - Reporting, Writing, And Editing II
Working seminar focused on the strengthening of basic journalism skills, including in-depth reporting, editing and multimedia presentations. Creativity, cooperation and critical thinking are used to shape effective messages for diverse audiences. You will have the opportunity to understand and apply the concept of beat reporting; develop beat writing skills by researching your beat and conducting interviews with sources; and write compelling news stories on your beat.
Preparation for Course P: COM 20000.
Cr. 3. Student Learning Outcomes 1. Research, write and produce content correctly and clearly in forms and styles appropriate for the communications professions, audiences and purposes they serve.
2. Be aware of and skillful in the use of new technologies relevant to the field of journalism.
3. Critically evaluate their own work and that of others for accuracy and fairness, clarity, appropriate style, grammatical correctness, and design and production quality.
