HORT 10100 - Fundamentals Of Horticulture
Biology and technology involved in the production, storage, processing, and marketing of horticultural plants and products. Laboratories include experiments demonstrating both the theoretical and practical aspects of horticultural plant growth and development.
Cr. 3. Hours Class 2, Lab. 2. Notes Requires class trips. Students will pay individual lodging or meal expenses when necessary. Student Learning Outcomes 1. Describe the biological principles underlying horticultural plant growth, development, and reproduction.
2. Explain the technologies and practices involved in the production, storage, processing, and marketing of horticultural crops.
3. Apply basic horticultural techniques in laboratory and greenhouse settings to investigate plant growth and development.
4. Interpret experimental results to connect theoretical concepts with practical applications in horticulture.
5. Evaluate the role of horticulture in food systems, landscapes, and society.
