COM 33800 - Documentary Or Experimental Film And Video
An examination of experimental and actuality (“documentary”) film and video, with emphasis on structural and technical innovation, production considerations, and historical developments. Additional screening times will be required.
Preparation for Course P: COM 24800 or COM 25100.
Cr. 3. Variable Title (V.T.) Notes May be repeated with a different title for a maximum of 6 credits. Student Learning Outcomes 1. Demonstrate the ability to be a critically engaged citizen.
2. Evaluate and apply communication concepts and theories relevant to the major.
3. Evaluate and apply the processes involved in productive conflict in the contexts (interpersonal, organizational, professional, small group, mediated, public) relevant to their major.
4. Demonstrate awareness of diverse perspectives.
5. Identify and analyze relations between media, rhetoric, culture, and democracy.
6. Identify and apply theoretical concepts and processes to critically analyze media and rhetorical artifact(s) and their relationships to audiences and the public across local/global contexts.
7. Discuss the ethical responsibilities of a media and cultural critic.
