COM 32300 - Business And Professional Speaking



The study of oral communication problems and responsibilities in the business-organizational environment. Participation in problem-solving from investigation and informative speaking to advocacy and parliamentary debate. This course is not available for credit toward any communication major or minor.

Student Learning Outcomes
1.  Demonstrate the behaviors of professional excellence in oral/verbal and written communications in workplace relationships and organizational messaging responsibilities.
2.  Identify appropriate communication concepts and perspectives in attending to the responsibilities and challenges of communicating professionally in the workplace.
3.  Demonstrate critical thinking skills in the preparation and presentation of oral/verbal and written messages to reflect professional excellence in communication responsibilities and responses to communication challenges in the workplace.
4.  Utilize critical thinking skills and problem-solving methods in the creation of strategically designed messages to address organizational problems and challenges for an intended workplace audience.
5.  Demonstrate an understanding and application of KEYS self-reflexive process to improve their professional excellence in workplace communication by reflecting on their experiences of preparing and giving a speech presentation.
