EDU 50304 - Educational Research In Practice This course is designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills to critically analyze, design, and implement research that addresses real-world educational issues. Emphasizing a blend of quantitative, qualitative, and action research methodologies, the course explores how data-driven inquiry can inform instructional practices and support decision-making to improve P-12 student learning outcomes. Students will engage in conducting research that is practical and relevant to the educational contexts in which they work, ensuring that their findings have immediate applicability to improving teaching and learning.
Preparation for Course P: EDU 50301 with grade of C- or better.

Student Learning Outcomes 1. Evaluate Research Methodologies differentiating between quantitative, qualitative, and action research methodologies and select appropriate approaches for investigating specific educational phenomena.
2. Analyze Data utilizing statistical and thematic analysis techniques to interpret quantitative and qualitative data, drawing meaningful conclusions that are relevant to practice.
3. Implement Educational Research as evidenced by designing and implementing an educational research project in a P-12 setting that addresses a pressing educational issue, using iterative cycles of planning, acting, observing, and reflecting.
4. Communicate Research Findings through written reports and oral presentations tailored to educational stakeholders, including teachers and administrators.
5. Apply Research to Practice through critical reflection of how research findings can be applied to improve classroom instruction, school-wide policies, or broader educational practices to enhance P-12 student outcomes.
