BUS 56903 - Healthcare Law And Ethics This course explores the legal, policy and ethical issues encountered by healthcare professionals in the continuously evolving healthcare system. Because the law is in a constant state of fluidity, those in healthcare management must possess a basic knowledge of the law as it applies to their areas of responsibility.

1. Define, identify, or describe legal, ethical, and moral boundaries pertaining to the provision of healthcare services.
2. Identify how civil, contract, and criminal law apply to the provision of healthcare services.
3. Demonstrate legal reasoning skills.
4. Apply healthcare tort law, including malpractice and negligence, including how to minimize their risks or consequences.
5. Apply legal requirements related to patient consent and protecting patient medical information.
6. Apply contract law in the healthcare profession.
7. Understand the law related to fraud and abuse in healthcare.
8. Identify the key roles played by the administrative constituents in healthcare organizations.
9. Identify basic aspects of corporate and employment law related to healthcare organizations.
10. Analyze the relationship between ethics and law in the context of healthcare.
