BUS 56803 - Healthcare Analytics For Managers This course aims to introduce MBA students to the healthcare system and discuss its main problems, such as asymmetric information, moral hazards, uncertainty & risk, induced demand, cost & price inflation, and market & government failures. The course introduces analytical tools that modern healthcare managers may utilize in the workplace. We will use real-world case studies to broadcast how managers can use various business models and statistical tools to identify the most effective solutions to managerial problems. The principal intention of the course is to put each student in the position of a healthcare manager and guide the student in finding an effective solution utilizing a data-driven approach (rational decision-making approach).

1. Quantify market and financial risks in the healthcare market and identify the best mitigation strategies.
2. Learn the theoretical standpoint of healthcare costs and investigate empirical implications.
3. Use forecasting tools to understand the pricing mechanism and optimal pricing strategies in the healthcare market.
4. Analyze managerial practices aimed at reducing the problems with adverse selection and moral hazard in the workplace.
5. Identify behavioral aspects in a manager’s decision-making in the market and workplace and recommend solutions to improve market efficiency. |
