BUS 54200 - Accounting For Managers The course focuses on “strategic” managerial accounting practices including capital budgeting, activity-based management, balanced scorecard, strategic financial planning and analysis, strategy pyramids/maps, and performance measures turning data into insightful information to make business decisions.
Preparation for Course P: BUS 50100 or Equivalent.
Cr. 3. Notes You must be admitted to the MBA program or secure approval from the department before enrolling in any graduate-level business or economics course.
Student Learning Outcomes
1. Understand how stakeholders (e.g., investors, creditors, etc.) use information generated by financial accounting systems to make decisions about business entities.
2. Participate in the ways in which information about a business is recorded in the financial accounting system.
3. Implement best practices to report information from accounting systems to users.
4. Understand tools used in strategy and performance management (i.e., balanced scorecard, KPIs/metrics/benchmarks, strategy pyramids, strategy maps).
5. Understand the role of financial teams including strategic business best practices for improved business performance and growth. |
