MUSC 20108 - Choral & Vocal Pedagogy For Instrumental Teachers
Designed for instrumental music education students to learn basic vocal and choral pedagogy for PK-12 teaching. The course will cover the fundamentals of vocal production, including breathing, physical alignment, tone production, and diction. Through interactive music making and discussion-based learning, students will have a foundational knowledge of vocal performance, choral and vocal repertoire, and teaching singing.
Cr. 1. Student Learning Outcomes 1. Identify and describe different vocal ranges, types, and styles.
2. Demonstrate an understanding of vocal mechanics.
3. Apply basic techniques of vocal performance in solo and group singing.
4. Select repertoire for a variety of middle and high school choirs.
5. Demonstrate techniques of teaching middle and high school choir.
6. Develop a variety of methods for teaching aural knowledge and skills.
