MUSC 15100 - Guitar Skills For Music Therapy

A course for students who have no, or very little, guitar-playing experience. Instruction will focus on three areas: reading and playing single-note melodies in the first position, performing simple chord accompaniments, and using proper playing technique.

Must be admitted into the Music Therapy (BSMT) program.
Student Learning Outcomes
1. Read standard music notation for guitar in first position.
2. Play simple melodies in the first position.
3. Play a variety of chords in the keys of F, C, G, D, A, E, Dm, Am, Em.
4. Play a variety of chord progressions in the above keys.
5. Play basic chord accompaniments on guitar.
