IST 30100 - Quantitative Methods For Decision Making
The course will focus on solving business problems using quantitative methods. These methods include linear programming, network analysis, transportation linear programming, forecasting, and statistical classification methods. Students will demonstrate understanding of analytical, computer, and modeling skills in business decision making.
Preparation for Course P: STAT 30100 or ECON 27000 (or equivalent).
Cr. 3. Student Learning Outcomes 1. Have an understanding of the value and use of quantitative methods in administrative and operational problem solving and decision-making. (1)
2. Describe a set of data using data visualization (1)
3. Compute statistics from sample data to support decision making (1)
4. Select and deploy effective models of decision-making using principles of data science (1, 2)
5. Run a statistical software package that integrates data from excel, databases, and internet sources (1)
6. Build a basic interactive business intelligence dashboard displaying the current status of relevant metrics and key performance indicators (KPI) (1, 2)
