MUSC 25900 - Clinical Processes In Music Therapy
Introduction to processes, principles, and concepts required to conduct music therapy with clients according to AMTA Standards of Clinical Practice. Includes the influence of music on behavior. Emphasis on assessment, documentation, outcomes measurement, treatment planning, and evaluation.
Preparation for Course P: Admitted into the Music Therapy (BSMT) program. MUSC 15300 with grade of C- or better.
Cr. 3. Student Learning Outcomes 1. Identify the required parts of the music therapy process according to the AMTA Standards of Clinical Practice and describe the function of each.
2. Demonstrate understanding and implementation of a variety of music therapy assessment models that meet varying needs of music therapy clients.
3. Interpret assessment findings and develop treatment plans with goals and objectives based on the findings of music therapy assessment.
4. Develop and utilize means of data collection for use in evaluating music therapy treatment effectiveness.
5. Demonstrate understanding of professional music therapy nomenclature by utilizing it in all aspects of treatment documentation.
6. Verbalize understanding of legal and ethical guidelines for the treatment of a variety of music therapy clientele.
