LING L360 - Language in Society A general introduction to sociolinguistics, for the nonspecialist. Topics covered include regional and social dialects, the politics of language use in social interaction, language and social change, and men’s and women’s language, as well as issues in applied sociolinguistics such as bilingualism and black English in education.
